LEGAL+ / PROFILE

The Approach

The Federal Lawyers’ Act defines a lawyer as the “designated independent advisor and representative in all legal matters.” For me, this is not just a quote from a legal text, but a mandate.

To me, being a lawyer means taking responsibility—both personally and with regard to the case as a whole. I actively manage disputes rather than merely administering them, and I make decisions where others rely on recommendations.Only someone who is independent can do this:

Without regard to other considerations.

I decide whether to take on a case based on the merits of the matter. If you want to take action against a large corporation, a bank, or an insurance company, LEGAL+ does not have to consider whether a major long-term client might take offense.

Independent of authority.

I am not convinced by a legal opinion simply because a court, a legal commentary, or an experienced colleague holds it; I am convinced only by its reasoning. Where the reasoning is flawed, I disagree.

Independent of you as well.

I represent your interests, not your expectations. If I think your position is weak, I’ll let you know—not until the verdict is handed down.

Attorney Liability

What This Means for Your Case

I take on cases, not files. I handle cases with the commitment to bring them to a successful conclusion as if they were my own. I organize the facts of the case, openly identify opportunities and risks, and propose a course of action that I believe is viable. Clients are not presented with alternative options but rather with a clear course of action—along with the consequences that come with it.

I remain your point of contact, guiding your case from the initial consultation through to the final decision and taking full responsibility for it. Where a case requires it, I bring in experienced colleagues: other trial attorneys, attorneys admitted to the Federal Court of Justice, law firms abroad, and expert witnesses. I do not accept a case that I am not fully capable of handling.

Every legal proceeding has a background—usually a contract. That’s why I also draft contracts, drawing on my experience with legal proceedings: they should reflect your goals and hold up in the event of a dispute. In court, I defend the contracts I’ve drafted myself.

For LEGAL+, taking over means: I stand by my work. In return, I expect clients to provide full and frank information, not to conceal mistakes and to be prepared to accept clear recommendations – even when they are uncomfortable. Only on this basis can I conduct cases in a way that stands up both in court and within your organisation.

Beyond the Legal

At LEGAL+, our commitment doesn’t end when things get technical.

In cases involving technical issues, it is not enough to handle the case solely from a legal perspective and leave the technical questions to others. A lawyer must familiarize himself with the technical context to the extent that he can identify the crucial points on his own: What is a plausible cause? Which assumptions remain open? What questions must be posed to the expert witness? At what point does an expert opinion fall short?

That is part of my understanding of taking on a case. A case is not handled simply by receiving technical input and then transcribing it into legal briefs. The case must also be understood and represented in court even when it becomes challenging, involves unfamiliar subject matter, or is highly detailed.

“Mr. Meier-Greve impresses with his exceptionally thorough examination of the facts, his analytical mindset, and his willingness to delve into even complex scientific issues in great detail. This approach creates a solid foundation for a professionally sound and, at the same time, very pleasant interdisciplinary collaboration.”

Before the Term Begins

Fee

Transparency before accepting a mandate – that is binding.

Each payment is agreed individually and in advance. You will not incur any costs without an agreement.

If you are faced with a fundamental decision – such as whether proceedings should be initiated, continued or avoided – I can offer you a concentrated written assessment as a basis for your decision. The scope and flat fee are determined in advance according to the nature and difficulty of the case.

Lessons Learned from Collaboration

Client Testimonials.

“It was a collaboration unlike any other I’ve experienced with an outside attorney in terms of intensity. What set him apart for me was that he didn’t just provide legal guidance for our projects—he truly understood them—technically, economically, and in terms of the dynamics that arise when clients, subcontractors, and end customers come under pressure. And he never merely explained the legal situation; instead, he provided clear recommendations and took responsibility for his advice.”
