When you ask a lawyer for advice, you remain in control of your case. You receive an assessment, weigh your options, and take action on your own.
If you entrust your case to him, you relinquish control. From that point on, he speaks for you—in every brief and at every hearing. What he says is what you say. What he fails to do is what you have failed to do. And when the court asks the crucial question, he answers—immediately and without consulting you.
Anyone who speaks on behalf of another person can do more than just offer advice. They must take on the case: get to the bottom of the facts until they know them as well as you do, determine the course of action, make decisions in a timely manner, and stand by every decision.
Whether you file a lawsuit, settle out of court, or end the dispute is ultimately up to you. But you won't have to decide alone: You'll receive a clear recommendation, not just a list of options.
There is no mention of a take-over in any retainer agreement. It depends on the person handling your case. At LEGAL+, that person is me—from the first consultation to the final appointment.
For more than twenty years, I have been handling lawsuits, both in Germany and abroad. During that time, I have never been able to simply “handle” a case. Before I write anything, I want to understand what really happened. I look for the points that could undermine your case before the opposing side does. And once I’ve taken on a case, I don’t set it aside when the office closes.
No lawyer can promise you a specific outcome. I promise you something else: In the end, I can explain every step I took—and every one I deliberately chose not to take.
